FAQ
Why only DIY kits for the long/full motion rocker plate version and no complete CoPlate®?
The only advantage of the long/full motion version is that no additional front wheel riser is required. It does not give better realistic feelings while riding the rocker plate. It is not necessary that the front wheel riser rocks simultaneously with the rocker plate because of the small movement of the front wheel.
Disadvantages of the long version are: more expensive, higher shipping costs, more space needed during storage.
What is included in a CoPlate® ref. CBxx-?
Every CoPlate® is shipped with a mounting kit for fixing the trainer on the plate, a standard polystyrene front wheel riser block. Except for Wahoo Kickr because not necessary.
What is included in a DIY kit?
The kits are containing the instruction manual with making instructions and detailed drawings and all the components, except the top and bottom plate.
I received my CoPlate®, but it moves from side to side so much that it’s hard to keep my bike upright. What should I do?
This is normal in the beginning! Look forward and not down. Try for a half hour to acclimatize. Please read the manual pump it up! CoPlate® ships with the air suspensions at a low pressure to avoid damaging during transport. These can be inflated to a max pressure of 1 psi (0.2 bar). If you weigh 175 pounds (~100kg) the recommended pressure is 2 psi (0.2 bar).
Choose a low pressure as possible. Low pressure means easier rocking during sprint and climb.
My CoPlate® bends slightly during use. Is this normal?
Yes. Depending on your trainer’s base and your own bike/body weight the top plate may bend slightly. This is perfectly normal and will not damage the CoPlate® which is made of extremely strong 8 mm high pressure laminate with reinforcements.
Is it allowed to inflate the suspension higher than 0,2 bar (3 psi)?
With a personal weight of 120 kg the max. pressure is 0.3 bar (4,3 psi). With a higher pressure the rocking effect will be almost eliminated. Static burst pressure of the suspension is about 0,8 bar.
You don’t sell the mounting hardware for my trainer. What can I do to get my own CoPlate®?
We are trying to create mounting kits for additional trainers, but that’s not always easy when we don’t have the trainer in our hands. If you are willing to take some measurements for us we can probably create a mounting kit for you, and hopefully be able to use that mounting kit for future customers with your trainer model. Please contact us to get started on a mounting kit for your trainer.
The deflating function of the pressure gauge does not seem to work, what is wrong?
Because of the low working pressure, the deflating is going very slow. You can increase this by pressing the plate down.
Do I need a frontwheel riser for the Wahoo Kickr?
Not always necessary. When using a road bicycle on a CoPlate® with a Wahoo Kickr it is recommended to use the knob in the middle leg for setting the Wahoo Kickr in the lowest position/smallest wheel diameter
The Tacx Flux, in combination with CoPlate® Ref. CBTF-20, is fixed with tie wraps, is this strong enough?
Yes we have done some tests in combination with the special steel bracket at the rear side, this is o.k. The steel bracket is the main anchor point, the tie-wraps prevent the legs shifting.
Does my coplate need maintenance?
Yes, lubricate the air suspension between the plates monthly with glycerine, WD40 or silicone (pray) and do not expose the air suspensions to direct sunlight to extend the life time. And every month, both air suspensions should be checked for hairline cracks and/or wear. If this is the case, the air suspension must be replaced asap.
